The folder holding a folder is the distinct idea: a folder, its parent edge, and an n you can see in one shape. What held it back was the drawing. The top bar was almost twice as thick as the legs and the opening under it less than half the height, the opposite of a real n. Below, the same idea redrawn to the proportions of the n in “notey”, each shown where the mark lives.

The files the app now uses, generated from one drawing. Two tones: solid, where everything is one colour and the edge inside is cut out, used whenever the mark is under 220 px; and layered, with grey edges, from 220 px. The name always comes first.
